Swanage & Wareham welcomed Corsham to Bestwall in their latest fixture in Southern Counties League.
It did not start well for the hosts as from the kick off, at the first tackle Swans were penalised and from the penalty Corsham put the ball into Swans 5 metre line. From the line out Corsham produced a catch/drive move resulting in a converted try.(0pts – 7pts) after 1 minute. Swans responded by attacking but it took until the 12th minute before Steve Woolley scored a penalty goal. Swans continued on the offensive and after 18 minutes Woolley added a second penalty.(6pts – 7pts). Swans next landed a try by no. 8 Marcus Seaton coming in at the corner after 23 minutes putting Swans in the lead at 11pts – 7pts. 5 minutes later Woolley added his third penalty to to increase the lead, but Corsham landed one of their own after 33 minutes to put the score at 14pts – 10pts. Three minutes before the interval from a Swans catch/drive move Swans hooker Jack Daniels went in for Swans second try. Half Time Swans 19pts Corsham 10pts.
Swans increased their lead with a break early in the second half as replacement wing forward Eroni Drodrolaki powered over the Corsham line out wide to bring the score to 24pts – 10pts, after 48 minutes. Ten minutes later winger Harry Spyers picked up the ball and raced in at the corner to give Swans their bonus point try.(29pts – 10pts). Swans were penalised 7 times on the trot in the last ten minutes but survived them all and with 6 minutes to go Swans wing forward James Casey went in for Swans fifth try. (34pts – 10pts).
