2nd XV

The 2023/24 season has been a very successful one for the 2nd XV, winning the league title in Counties 3 Tribute Dorset & Wiltshire South, and narrowly losing in the Dorset and Wiltshire 2nd XV County Cup final.

Under the guidance of John Tozer and Mike Snowden the 2nd XV have gelled well this last

season and played some really structured, flowing rugby. In doing so we have been able to

incorporate new personnel from both our own colts set up as well as other teams. Swans 2nd XV have a balance of youth and experience. This proved to be a fruitful development team for the younger members, with many making the step up into the 1st XV.
Training sessions have seen some close run exercises with the 2nd XV more than holding their own against the 1st XV.

The league statistics are just eye watering:

Played 14, won 13 of which 11 were won with try bonus points.

In doing so the team racked up 588 points whilst only conceding 130.

That averages out at the team scoring over 40 points per game and a winning points

difference of over 30.

There have been so many highlights from the last season, moments of note include our cup

final appearance, losing by the narrowest of margins, the Christmas social at the club which

saw the departure of three key players to New Zealand for the remainder of last season and of

course the end of season awards dinner with Jason Leonard presenting the prizes.

The 2nd XV train along with the other senior men’s teams at 19:00 on Tuesday evenings and

social touch rugby at 19:00 every Thursday, at the John Procter Memorial ground, fortress of

the Swans. All are welcome, with hot food from the Salt Pig being served after the last
