GAME v NORTH DORSET

NORTH DORSET 27 pts SWANAGE & WAREHAM 14 pts

Swans travelled to Gillingham, with a weakened team due to injuries and unavalabilities, and it got worse as in the warm up before the game Ben Dennett pulled a ham string so Swans had to re-jig their line up with some players out of position.

In the first two minutes, playing with the wind, North Dorset put the ball into Swans 22 and with a heavier pack they rumbled over the line. After ten minutes the ball was over Swans line and attempting to clear, Swans dropped the ball and a North Dorset player pounced on the ball.(12pts-nil). With 20 minutes gone a scrum in Swans 22, resulted in a move that brought a try under the posts.(19pts – nil). 5 minutes later, from a scrum the ball went along the line for a winger to score out wide.Just before the break Swans gave away a penalty which the hosts full back put over. Half Time North Dorset 27pts Swans nil

Swans had the wind in the second half, and made good use of the conditions putting North Dorset under pressure. However a couple of penalties took the hosts into Swans territory and from a line out Swans winger Harry Spyers picked the up raced along the touch line and scored under the posts. Steve Woolley converted (27pts – 7pts) after 55 minutes. On the hour mark, from a scrum close to the North Dorset line, the ball was worked out to centre Dave Elford who scored under the posts. Woolley converted taking the score to 27pts – 14pts. Try as they may Swans could not improve on the score, so the final score was North Dorset 27pts Swanage & Wareham 14pts.
