Pre-season game v New Milton

SWANAGE & WAREHAM XV 29 pts NEW MILTON XV 26 pts


Swanage & Wareham played a pre-season fixture at home to a New Milton XV in which a first session was full of mistakes, the second session had New Milton steaming ahead, but in the third session Swans came back to take the spoils.

Early in the first half hour session the first mistake by the visitors had Swans full back Steve Woolley landing a penalty kick. Too many knocks-on by both sides and problems at the breakdowns resulted in a stodgy session but on 28 minutes New Milton scored a converted try to end the session Swans 3pts New Milton 7pts.

Both sides made several changes to their formations, and ten minutes into the session New Milton with a mistake by Swans at a line out let a w aing forward in for a simple try. (3pts-12pts). Ten minutes later a missed tackle enabled a New Milton centre to score under the posts.(3pts -19pts).

In the third session, a ball was sent out to winger George Crouch in the first minute who scored closeto the posts. Woolley converted(10pts – 19pts). Ten minutes later a kick ahead by Swans towards the New Milton try line had several players chasing it with Joe Ginders winning the race to touch down. Woolley added the extras(17pts – 19pts). With five minutes to go a cross field kick was caught by winger George Crouch who ran round to score under the posts. Crouch added the extras.(24pts – 19pts). Another kick ahead towards the New Milton try line had Steve Woolley winning the chase making Swans total 29pts. In the final minute New Milton added a converted try to make the final score Swanage & Wareham 29pts New Milton 26pts

This Thursday August 24th Swans are having another pre-season fixture against Bournemouth 2nd with a 7.30 kick off . Bournemouth 2nd play in the same league as New Milton. Try to get along as the first league game is on the 2nd of September away at Dorchester.
