SWANS GAME v FROME

SWANAGE & WAREHAM 26pts FROME12pts

Swanage & Wareham welcomed Frome to Bestwall last Saturday, and after a tight first half Swans came good in the second half to continue their successful start to the season.

After a kick ahead by Swans, Frome made a mistake and after 2 minutes Swans took the lead with a penalty by centre Steve Woolley. Immediately Frome came back with a move by their three-quarters with full back Henry Bull crossing the try line. He converted himself making the score 3pts – 7pts after 5 minutes. 3 minutes later a line out in the Frome 22 had Swans winning the ball, and scrum half Conor Maog

dummied his way over the try line.Woolley converted. (10pts -7pts). On 20 minutes a good break by Frome, and after a scrum wing forward Sam Bartlett powered over the line. Bull missed the conversion(10pts-12pts). From the restart Frome made a mistake and Woolley added another 3pts to Swans score. No more score before half time so at Half time Swans 13pts – 12pts.

Two minutes into the second half Frome transgressed again and Woolley landed another penalty to move Swans to 16pts. In the next twenty minutes the referee awarded 10 penalties to both sides so that neither side could get their game going, and after 65 minutes one of these came in range for Woolley to add another 3pts to Swans score. Frome were still in the match and Swans had to be on their guard as Frome made the hosts defend at times. However a kick ahead by Swans had Frome taking a goal line drop out which Swans attacked, and after several phases the ball came back to Swans centre Leon Esera who shrugged off several defenders to dive over the try line. Wolley added the conversion (26pts-12pts) after 75 minutes. In the last five minutes Frome had a try disallowed for a forward pass and they had several penalties on the Swans line, which tried tap/go but Swans defence stood up well to the pressure and did not give way leaving the final score Swans 26pts Frome 12pts.
