SWANS GAME v SHERBORNE

            Swanage & Wareham entertained Sherborne in their latest Southern Counties league fixture on Saturday, and in a very open game Swans took revenge from an earlier defeat in the season.

            After a few early exchanges, Swans had a penalty which they put into the 5metre line and after a few phases second row George Slack powered over the try line after 6 minutes. Fly half Jamie Foskett added the  extras. 5 minutes later, a move from a scrum all along the Swans three-quarters to winger Sam Bowen had him diving in at the corner  flag for Swans second try. Foskett added the conversion(14pts – nil). Sherborne attacked from the restart, putting the ball into Swans 5 metre line, Sherborne won the line out, passed the ball along the backs to score a try out wide. This was converted(14pts – 7pts). Swans gave away a couple of penalties and after 25 minutes Sherborne slotted one giving them 10pts. After half an hour Sam Bowen suddenly appeared from a maul and sped 40 metres unopposed to score his second try under the posts. Foskett added the extras.(21pts – 10pts). 4 minutes later, from a scrum wing forward Joe Towers broke clear and ran from the half way line to score close to the  posts to get Swans bonus point try. Foskett added the conversion. A couple of penalties to each side ended the half with the score Swans 28pts Sherborne 10pts

            The second half started with a penalty to Swans which was put into the visitors 22 and from a line out the ball was passed to Swans centre Eps Bainy, who broke through the defence to go clear for Swans fifth try. Foskett added the conversion(35pts – 10pts) On 50 minutes a Swans player was yellow carded and Sherborne took advantage of the extra man. From a scrum the visitors powered forward but Swans defence was good and it took several phases before Sherborne crossed the Swans try line.The conversion was missed(35pts -15pts). Sherborne had the advantage now and in the 58th minute a backs move led to a converted try.(35pts – 22pts) After 65 minutes a Sherborne player was yellow carded giving Swans an extra man and 10 minutes later a Swans move along the backs had Sam Bowen going in for his hat-trick of tries. Foskett added the extras (42pts – 22pts). In the last minute of the game Sam Bowen broke clear down the wing and scored his fourth try in the corner bringing Swans score to 47pts.

Final Score Swanage & Wareham 47pts Sherborne 22pts.
