SWANS v COMBE DOWN

Combe Down were the visitors to Bestwall this week, and it a very competitive game Swans came second in a try – fest of a contest.
In the first five minutes both sides scored a penalty each, with Steve Woolley putting one over for Swans. After ten minutes Combe Down scored a converted try with a catch/drive move.(3pts – 10pts). However 5 minutes later Swans winger George Crouch rounded the visitors defence to score close to the posts, Woolley added the extras.(10pts each). Combe Down took over the game in the middle of the half scoring a couple of tries before the half hour mark.(10pts – 24pts). With 3 minutes of the half to go a chip through the Combe Down defence had George Crouch scoring out wide.(15pts- 24pts). However straight from the restart Swans made a mistake and Combe Down capitalised so at half time it was Swans 15pts Combe Down 31pts.
Swans came back in the second half, and after 50 minutes a drive at a scrum out wide had Swans replacement James Casey going over for a try. (20pts-31pts). Three minutes later George Crouch went in for his hat-trick of tries. Wolley converted(27pts-31pts). On the hour mark Combe Down scored again with a converted try (27pts – 38pts). With 8 minutes to go Swans thought they were in for a chance as winger Harry Spyers went in for another Swans score which Woolley converted(34pts-38pts). However in the last minute a Combe Down winger raced clear to score under the posts, which was converted to bring the final score to Swans 34pts Combe Down 45pts.
