Swans v Dorchester

Swans welcomed local rivals Dorchester to Bestwall, and after a competitive first half, unfortunately the visitors took over in the second .

Dorchester started by kicking the ball over Swans defence but Swans repelled this onslaught, and produced some exciting three – quarters moves. However a couple of penalties to Swans took them into the visitors 22, and from a scrum Swans took the lead with a try by Swans no.8 James Casey. Steve Woolley converted . However after 20 minutes as Swans were attacking the Dorchester line, the visitors intercepted the ball and the Dorchester centre ran the length of the pitch to score in the corner. A couple of penalty goals to Dorchester meant they were leading by 7pts – 13pts, but just before the break once again Swans scored again, by James Casey close to the posts with Woolley converting leaving the half time score Swans 14pts Dorchester 13pts.

Early in the second half, Dorchester managed to push Swans off the ball at a scrum and after 48 minutes scored a converted try to take the score to 14pts – 20pts. Swans continued to attack

but once again made a mistake, the visitors intercepted and ran 50 or so metres to the line take Dorchester’s score to 25pts after 60 minutes. Swans replied immediately when from a series of phases on the Dorchester 22, wing forward Jonny Blackmore worked his way over the line. (19pts – 25pts) after 63 minutes. The play was even towards the end of the game, with Dorchester dominating the scrums, with Swans controlling the backs. It was like this as Swans were trying to score, but with the last move of the game another interception on the Dorchester 22 made the score up to 32pts for the visitors. Final score Swans 19pts Dorchester 32pts.
