Swanage & Wareham welcomed Dorchester to Bestwall last Saturday, and in a game that Swans dominated, Dorchester managed a bonus point towards the end of the match.
Swans w-ere first on the scoreboard, when Dorchester were caught offside after two minutes and from the resulting penalty centre Matt Spencer put Swans 3pts ahead. From the restart the visitors received five penalties on the trot, but Swans managed to repel all of them. On twenty minutes a move down Swans wing by Rory Ferguson who was tackled on Dorchester’s 22, passed inside to Swans full back Harry Spyers who scored close to the posts. Spencer added the extras to put Swans 10pts up. Swans continued to dominate,but penalties to the visitors held them back, and with 5 minutes to the break, Dorchester scored a converted try in the corner. Half time – Swans 10pts – Dorchester 7pts.
Five minutes into the second half a penalty to Swans inside the visitors 22 had Matt Spencer making the score 13pts-7pts and with Swans pressing after 53 minutes Matt Spencer crossed the try line to put Swans 18pts – 7pts ahead. Apart from a series of penalties to Dorchester Swans came close to scoring, but towards the final whistle Dorchester had five penalties inside Swans 22, the game lasted 7 minutes overtime and eventually the visitors scored a converted try to salvage a bonus point with the final score Swans 18pts Dorchester 14pts.
